SPECIAL MEMBERS ONLY EVENT

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Join us on 18th April to discover the truth behind your morning cup. See at first-hand how the UK’s leading impact driven, speciality coffee company finds, buys, hand-roasts and packs the world’s most popular brew as we seek to excite and educate consumers with better tasting experiences amongst our café, hospitality and catering clients and for customers at home.

The UK now supports over 20,000 coffee shops and cafes with around a 50:50 split between the chains and an ever-growing number of quality focused independents. Yet this is only half the story as consumption at home, recently accelerated by the WFH trend has increased in both volume and value (premiumisation).

After a short introduction over breakfast, we will tour the Roastery, see the transformation, smell the magic and enter the quality control lab for an entertaining cupping experience and to meet our dedicated team.

Since 2001 Union Hand Roasted Coffee has sought to share the joy of speciality coffee with producers and consumers alike.  Our founding moment came in 2000 when we witnessed the adverse impact that global commodity markets had upon quality and the livelihoods of the mostly subsistence smallholder farmers.

Union was founded to empower producers through a ‘Union Direct Trade’ commitment to long term sustainable sourcing and partnership activities that enhance their communities whilst delivering higher quality coffee for UK consumers. This mission has been recognised by a number of awards including in 2017 and 2022 The Queens Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development.

Based in Newham, Union employs over 60 people and imports raw coffee from over 40 communities in 14 countries. Annually we roast over 1.5million Kilos of coffee per year making Union the UKs leading speciality coffee roaster. Union Hand Roasted Coffee can be found nationwide in Waitrose, Sainsburys, and Tesco as well as online. We are also served by our partners such as British Airways, Gails Bakeries, numerous independent and in-workplace coffee bars, restaurants and hotels.
