Coronavirus: Your chance to have a conference call with the Mayor of Newham

The Mayor of Newham, Rokhsana Fiaz, has asked the Chamber to organise a conference call between her and Newham-located businesses tomorrow (Friday) about Coronavirus.

This is an invaluable initiative. For it is the council that will have to organise business rate relief, grants for SMEs and those in the retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with property having a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000. There are other issues that may be worrying you: social care or rented property reliefs. The Mayor wants to hear from you.

Be aware that there will almost certainly be a short gap before any funding reaches you.

To book your call contact Lloyd Johnson at chairman@newhamchamber.com He will get back to you with the conference details.

NB: This initiative is only for businesses based in Newham, not those who do business in the borough but are not located there. These should contact their own local council on how business rate relief and grants are being organised.

CHAMBER AND CORONAVIRUS

All planned Chamber events up to June 10th have been cancelled. The situation will then be reviewed. If the go-ahead is given, the first event would be a BBQ networking evening at and hosted by the Holiday Inn – Westfield Stratford City, followed a fortnight later by the AGM at the same venue.

WE’RE STILL IN BUSINESS

The Chamber will be sending a regular bulletin on coronavirus news affecting the business community in the weeks to come. We want to hear your stories/problems. Contact John James at secretary@newhamchamber.com
